The David Letterman Show (1980) - Footage Offline - 03/03/10

One of the best YouTube channels for my money (well, for my site) is TheSpindles. Tonight TheSpindles has posted an entire episode of Letterman's morning show, commercials and all.

Letterman's morning show was far better than the nighttime version. I still look back at it with fondness; he was funny and inviting without being cynical.

Thanks for posting this. I remember Letterman's morning show and I also remember some of the commercials!

David Letterman's very first talk show following his arrival in New
York from his native Indiana was a very short-lived one. Featuring a daily news update with the late Edwin Newman, this Monday-through-
Friday chatfest featured optimistic guests, funny opening
monologues and rousing opening and closing theme compositions. It wasn't too long since Letterman switch talk-show dayparts from daytime to late night, when NBC helped launched Late Night with
David Letterman in the mid-1980s.
Letterman was succeeded by Conan
O'Brien, who fills in current host
Jay Leno's shoes next June, and
Jimmy Fallon.
