Acording to my references, this was a show called Hollywood House, and its top-billed star (whom I'm sure most of you recognized as quickly as I did) was Alan Mowbray as the desk clerk/manager.
Actually, the top-billed, above-the-title star, of this show, "Hollywood House", was Dick Wesson. A very young and very beautiful Polly Burgin (Bergen) also appeared, and sang several songs,in this episode. I have the complete show, in much better quality, on dvd.
