When I was kid growing up in the NYC suburb of Teaneck, NJ we'd come home from school and if the weather was bad we would watch "The 4:30 Movie" on Channel 7. They would show great movies like "Where Eagels Dare" with Clint Eastwood. Then Eyewitness News came on.
This was the orginal "Eyewitness News" with the working newsroom as the set backdrop. EVERYONE eventually copied this format. WABC 7 invented it. Grimsby and Beutel were the most popular anchor team in local news. Bill Beutel was with channel 7 for decades after. His son, Peter is an oil trader on Wall St. You have probably seen him interviewed on CNBC.
