I recall several years back when Sheila James and Dick Sargent were making the talk-show rounds with their gay pride campaign. I kept waiting for one of them to bring up this show, but that never happened. I wonder why not...
That was veteran character actor George Furth as nervous Ensign Beasley -- he would collaborate with Stephen Sondheim on the musicals Company and Merrily We Roll Along. Furth also played "Van Johnson" in Blazing Saddles... and wound up dying just a few months before the REAL Van Johnson last year.
