Listened to your interview on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast, which was great. I also enjoy this blog. One thing, though -- Minnie Pearl's Fried Chicken was a notorious failure, not a success (see link). Around 1968, a friend and I rode our bikes to the one in our neighborhood, eager to cash in a coupon for a box lunch for something like $1 on opening day. We were the only ones there and manager gave us the royal treatment, which struck as rather bizarre -- kids are usually tolerated at best, but I guess he was grateful anyone was there at all. We knew then the place was already in big trouble and indeed it was gone within a few years. Minnie's buildings were rather distinctive -- very low slung and with a lot of gingerbread. Incredibly, one still exists on Beverly Blvd in Los Angeles, just east of the Beverly Center and the Beverly Connection. It was a dry cleaners for years and is now a Goodwill store. Also, I never ate at Alan Hale's Lobster Barrel, but a friend of mine took his parents there, and they weren't impressed with their meal. When they left, my friend yelled out the window, "Drop dead, Skipper!" not realizing that Alan was standing just outside. Another friend told me her parents frequented all the famous restaurants on Restaurant Row like Tail of the Cock, etc. and did go to the Lobster Barrel sometimes and Alan was indeed often there, greeting the guests at the front door. https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/article/13004920/failed-fortunes
