The Merv Griffin Show with guest Pat Paulsen etc.

I don't know where some of these YouTubers dig this stuff up. This is, apparently, a sketch that the hilarious Pat Paulsen of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour fame taped for The Merv Griffin Show in 1974 that, for reasons that I'm sure are obvious, never aired. So I am told.

Pat Paulsen on Late Night with David Letterman in 1982:

I'll miss Merv...I just did a brief post on Merv today, along with the last photo I took of him back in March.

Thanks for posting these. I think I'll go to youtube and search for some more Paulsen/Smother's Brothers stuff.

I keep a poltical blog and since the brilliant Stephen Colbert discussed running for president on the larry king show the other night, I think I'll make a light hearted post of the orig people who took on war and government on national tv way bk before their time! God I loved the Smother Brothers and revisiting these is so great. I'm so glad someone posted them to youtube for all of us to enjoy.

Wow, This is a quality website,
I typed in google 'Pat Paulsen for president' because after watching Sarah Palin wink at me on camera during the debate this Oct 2nd, I thought Pat Paulsen would be better as pres (or vice pres) even though he was dead, and this link came up.
Which brought me to this great Smothers Brothers footage.
We most certainly dont have programming of this calibre now.
I dare say the last you-tube video of Judy Collins is some of the most authentic beatnic stuff she did. Those Smothers Brothers also I would guess sounded the best they ever did with a guest. They were a going concern with that bluesy scale number!
Kudos to the editor of these you tube selections on this webpage. Larry
