The Dean Martin Show with guests Gordon and Sheila MacRae, Allan Sherman, Vic Damone and Ferrante and Teicher (1965)
That was a terrific star packed variety show of the type that dominated the airwaves until rock and roll got a choke hold on American pop culture and talents such as Vic Damone and Gordon MacRae were booted into obscurity. I was a kid then, liked the rise of "yeah yeah yeah" but even then I felt bad that the crooners who could really sing were considered "old hat" so quickly. Looking at them through the prism of experience, guys like Damone and MacRae were really superior performers. Shani Lewis was a sensation here; what a voice. And Allan Sherman teaming up to sample his wacky tunes with Damone and Martin was a highlight!
