The Milton Berle Show with guests Steve Allen and Lloyd Thaxton (1966)
I think that if you examine the background set closely, you'll see that this clip came from Milton Berle's ABC variety show from 1966, and Lloyd Thaxton was the guest.
This is the show that Berle launched with great fanfare in celebration of getting out of his old NBC contract, and it was the fastest flop of its season.
*"What kind of fool was I To go on Friday night With movies on my left The Man From U.N.C.L.E. on my right?"*
When I was 7 years old I begged my parents to let me watch the 1966"Milton Berle Show" every Friday, and they usually let me.Was I heartbroken when Berle announced He was doing his last show! How could a 7 year old know he'd seen better days?
Wow. Wow. I love those two guys, but I am so glad I never saw this clip until now. May they rest in peace--along with this sketch.

(I remember that all these years later...)
When Steve Allen was a kid, one of his babysitters was a teenaged Milton Berle.
ReplyDeleteI find that fact MUCH more amusing than this sketch.
