The Three Stooges get the Death Penalty (1941)
This 1941 short, titled In the Sweet Pie and Pie, has The Three Stooges on death row. Wrongly accused The Stooges are almost murdered by the state! Sadly, it's something all too common in the world of this barbaric practice. Now with that in mind - enjoy the laughs!
Script by Clyde Bruckman, who co-wrote many of Keaton's best (Sherlock Jr., Our Hospitality, and The Navigator, to name three), co-wrote and co-directed The General, and directed W.C. Fields in The Fatal Glass of Beer... to scratch the surface of his career! Also name-dropped in an X-Files episode where Peter Boyle played his namesake.
ReplyDeleteThe Stooge shorts from approx 1935-1945 are all magnificent imo.
ReplyDeleteThey reflected the last gasp of the silent clowns and are hilarious on their own terms as well. No mean feat.
